Summary
Seventeen-year-old Laz Hayerian wakes up on an abandoned Earth to discover that he and his companion Ivy Downey are clones, and they must work together--combining their talents to sense and step into and out of timestreams--to save humanity from imminent extinctionLaz is a side-stepper: he has the power to jump his consciousness to alternate versions of himself in parallel worlds. This time he wakes up in a cloning facility on a seemingly abandoned Earth. Surrounded by hundreds of other clones-- all dead-- he quickly realizes that he too must be a clone of his original self. As he struggles to survive in the barren wasteland he's now trapped in, the question that haunts him isn't why was he created, but instead, who woke him up... and why? Only one other clone appears to still be alive, although she remains asleep. Does this girl hold the key to the mysteries? But if he wakes her up, she will be trapped in this hellscape with him.... - adapted from jacket
